There's Only One Candidate
There's only one candidate for the Florida House District 37 race, including Democrats and Republicans, that is on the ballot by collecting enough signatures from voters. I'll be the first to tell you- I am NOT that candidate.
This is not because I wasn't out there collecting signatures because I certainly was. It's because while most candidates started their campaign back in summer or fall of 2017, I didn't make my campaign official until the end of January 2018. After speaking with representatives within the party, I decided it was too late to try to collect all the signatures needed and instead put my efforts to collecting signatures for our County Commission candidates and actually talking with voters to get a feel for what is important to them.
I didn't want to pay someone to stand and collect signatures for me. That's not what this campaign is about. This campaign is about voters and I wanted to talk to voters. I still do. In the month of July alone we knocked on the doors of 1,000 voters. Just to give you a glimpse of how many hours of work that is- we can typically hit about 30 to 50 voters in a 2 to 2.5 hour shift.
We've had some incredibly dedicated volunteers that have braved the heat with us, but there's no denying that this weather has caused a decline in our volunteers. So while 1,000 voters is great, when I need to talk to 38,000 voters, you can see there's a lot of work to be done still!
If you'd like to help us reach all the voters we need, I need your help! Don't worry, I'm not asking for money this time (though I'll gladly take it if you're offering). I need people that will help us make phone calls and knock on doors.
